Suzy Stroet, oil paintingsSuzy Stroet exhibition invitation
February 23-April 20, 2011
Opening Reception:  Saturday, February 26, 2011 - 2:00-4:00pm

This body of work explores the tension between romanticizing libraries as a sacred space and the pragmatics of using libraries as a service.  Suzy explores this through oil paintings of old book stacks now replaced by an automated retrieval system and drawings that map the process of information retrieval while bringing to light some of the barriers to accessing this information.  Both sections address the complexity and richness of libraries as they try to fulfil a variety of roles.
