Afghanistan at a Glance

Through oil paintings and installation pieces, this Middle Eastern family of artists explores a humanistic approach to life in Afghanistan. The works reveal both hope for innocent women and children and the ugly reality of fundamentalism and war.

Artists: Reyhaneh Bakhtiari is an acclaimed international artist. She studied at the Swindon College, University of London, England and received The Fourth International Female Artists Diploma of Excellence from Stockholm Sweden. Reyhaneh currently lives on the North Shore where she continues to paint and teaches painting.

Guity Adib studied in Paris, France at the Sorbonne University where she studied Civilization and Language. She has travelled extensively and has lived in several different countries during? her studies. After running her own business creating and selling handmade pottery, Guity continued her studies in Houston, Texas, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Vancouver. She has produced a diverse array of sculptures, paintings and artworks throughout her career.

Barry Alavi has a keen interest in Persian Calligraphy, Persian Poetry, and Classical Persian music. His passion for Persian music has encouraged him to master the ‘Ney’, an ancient wind instrument made from a giant reed that grows in Iran.
